About Renaissance Computing
Renaissance Computing opened in Arcata in 1995, back when a modem screeching was the sound of the future. The internet changed, the computers changed, and we're still here. Same county, same commitment, 31 years and counting.
That kind of longevity isn't luck. Computer shops come and go. The ones that last are the ones people trust enough to come back to, and to send their friends, their parents, and eventually their businesses too.
The People
Renaissance is owner-led in the literal sense: the owner has spent 31+ years in Humboldt County IT (more than two decades of them at Renaissance) and personally leads IT services for our business clients. When your company signs on with us, the person responsible isn't an account manager you'll never meet. Behind the repair counter, our techs handle the day-to-day bench work that's been the heart of the shop since 1995.
We're a small team, and we like it that way. You'll talk to people who do the actual work, not a call center or a ticket queue in another time zone.

From Repair Bench to Business IT
We started as a repair and retail shop, and that's still the heart of the business: walk-ins welcome, no appointment needed. But over three decades of fixing Humboldt County's computers taught us something: most business IT disasters we saw were preventable.
That's why we grew into managed IT services: ongoing monitoring, security, backups, and support for local businesses and organizations, including construction companies, professional services firms, and tribal governments. Same people, same values, applied before things break instead of after.
